I need to install source for the 2.6.19 kernel but I can't figure out how to do it. I tried yumex but I can't find any kernel-source package even though I enabled the core-sources repository.

How do I install the kernel source?

Thanks,

KP

Hello:
Have you installed the matching kernel-devel and kernel-headers
[usually that's enough] or do you need the src.rpm
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/6/SRPMS/

I tried to install the src rpm but I get a whole heap of warnings like:

# rpm -ivh kernel-2.6.19-1.2895.fc6.src.rpm
1:kernel warning: user brewbuilder does not exist - using root
warning: group brewbuilder does not exist - using root

so I am not even sure it installed properly. How can I tell?

Thanks,

Hello:
Have a look in /usr/src

Thanks Seve. I looked in /usr/src and all that is there is a directory hierarchy of make files; no actual source that I can see. Is this expected or does it mean that the rpm install failed?

Thanks,
