what's the difference between using lvm and manually partitioning the hard drive? is lvm better, faster, safer, or what? from everyone's experience, which is better for setting up a new system?

Hello:
To explain the differences please have a read through here: as it can better describe it than I can -- See Section 10.1.2 http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/install-guide/fc6/en/ch-disk-partitioning.html

Re: speed, security etc. really no difference
Which is better ?
For a personal computer I would not recommend LVM, however, that is just me and I am no expert. :)
I just think that it is easier to deal with / understand not being LVM for most users.
Others opinions may vary :)
