I have interference on the sound system. Crackling whining hissing in sympathy with mouse movement and disk/system activity. This is not always present. Sometimes when the system is switched on it is there, sometime loud, sometimes not so loud. Sometimes the sound works very well with no interference. Once the system is started the situation does not change until the next boot
It can happen with any CD playing software except KSCD. That has a different problem. It sometimes continues after the CD playing software has been closed and during shutdown right up to power off. The problem did not occur on Fedora Core 1,2,3 or 4, only 5 and 6

The system uses an ASUS P4V533-MX motherboard and the on board sound system with 1Gb RAM.
I have not been able to find any references to this or a similar problem on the web.

1. Does not appear to be resulting from IRQ conflict as far as I can see
2.. The mouse is USB/PS2. I have been using an adapter and the PS2 input.
3. I have removed the adapter and plugged the mouse into a USB port - the noise has gone.
However I would like to trace the cause - PS2 port was OK up FC4 .
