View Full Version : power surge disables yum

Power surges here in Montana caused the computer to reboot itself and in the process caused the software update package to lose touch with the Internet...I can still get on with Firefox and Kmail, but the same thing happened to Evolution.

Any ideas?

Typing "yum check-update" from oa terminal as root doesn't work either, and hangs on "Setting up repositories". The update was working as was Evolution (and Evolution sometimes will work now if the mail is checked with Kmail and the Kmail program remains open).

It won't happen again as this fella went out and dropped a hundred dollars for a battery backup unit.

TIA

Tack on a "-d 5" or so to yum to get more debug output.

You may just have hit a slow mirror. Once yum works again install yum-fastestmirror
