When I switched my OS I put everything I wanna keep on my External HDD and with fedora now I try to access my HDD and when I plug it in and get this:


Cannot mount Volume
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1. missing codepage or other error, in some useful info is found in syslog -try dmesg | tail or so

Well you need to issue the right mount command or you need to install the right driver.
Since you didn't mention what file system you used, I'll assume you came from Windows and are using NTFS. If that's the case you have two options for drivers, one that's read only (completely safe ), one that's read/write (never had a problem but.. ).

Install the Livna repoo if you haven't already this is done by running this in a terminal:

rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-6.rpm

yum install kmod-ntfs <-- read only

yum install ntfs-3g <-- full read/write

You may need to reboot after installation or use modprobe.
