Hey Im new at linux and just yesterday i got Fedora Core 6. After I did the updates for it, I then decided to download Limewire and install it. However it wouldnt work because it was missing the JRE. So I went to download the JRE 1.5..0.10-linux-i586-rpm.bin
"Could not open the file /home/Machseven/Download...5_0_10-linux-i586-rpm.bin. gedit has not been able to detect the character coding.
Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a character coding from the menu and try again."
Ive tried a different language and it still doesnt work.
Anyone have any ideas why or maybe if someone could tell me what java file i need inorder to install limewire

First of all, remove the plugin(s) that didn't work. Those will be in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and will not be green or blue. You can remove them by signing in as root (su -) and then 'cd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins' and 'rm plugin-name'

Once that's done, carefully follow the instructions again making sure you've used the right version number in the linkage. For instance, Jim's talking about jre1.6.0 while you've got jre1.5.0_10
