I'v erecently done some updates over the ;ast 2 days. I seem to remember one of them being autofs (this might not be the actual problem). However now when I stick my USD stick into trhe USB slot, the KDE Daemon no longer appears giving me choices.

I now have to manually mount the USB stick. Anyone having/had this problem? Did you manage to fix it?

I just checked using my SanDisk and it worked fine, the only difference is that I'm using gnome instead of KDE

Did you check to see if the "autofs" service got turned off or disabled somehow?

# service autofs status
automount (pid 2493) is running...

Seems to be running.

# rpm -q autofs
autofs-5.0.1-0.rc2.36

I downgraded to the prior version rc2.28 and automount is back.

The problem is somewhere in the kernel setup.
In fact, if you load the kernel 2.6.18-1.27x, you will not encounter the trouble. You start to encounter this trouble with the kernel 2.6.18-1.2868.fc6 and superior. Actually I have the same problem with the linux kernel 2.6.19. I suppose there's one or more modules to be included in the kernel via menuconfig, but I've not understood which are they. Is there someone who knows them?
Thanks in advance...

I'm still googling...

Automount fails with my camera's Compact Flash card. Kernel version straight from the box or 2.6.18-1.2798.
