View Full Version : Getting rid of firefox file "associations"

I'm having an issue in my Fedora 6 firefox. Whenever I try to download an MP3 it tries to play it and doesn't even allow me to download it. I know about the edit > prefs. > downloads thing, it's not that. It's a plugin causing it to happen, about:plugins shows:

Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible; Totem)

File name: libtotem-gmp-plugin.so
The Totem 2.16.1 plugin handles video and audio streams.

MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
application/x-mplayer2 AVI video avi, wma, wmv Yes
video/x-ms-asf-plugin ASF video asf, wmv Yes
video/x-msvideo AVI video asf, wmv Yes
video/x-ms-asf ASF video asf Yes
video/x-ms-wmv WMV video wmv Yes
video/x-wmv WMV video wmv Yes

How can I turn these plugins off?

To avoid automatically playing a file which you have a plugin for, you will probably need to right-click the file and choose save link as to DL it.
