I see that Smart is in the FC6 repos. I used it in SUSE and it is pretty good imo.

I have a mind to use it in FC6 but I can't but wonder:
1) It appears so much better than yumex so why is it not the default.
2) Smart has not so far been adopted by any distro as the default package manager (as far as I know). I wonder why?

Thanks
Colin

Smart is very nice.

I have 12270 rpm packages in my smart list for FC6. Had over 15500 for FC5 The thing I like the most is the ability to mix / match repositories without dependancy nightmares.

Thanks. Do you happen to know how I set freshrpms up in Smart? I've got Livna working ok.

Thanks again
Colin

Smart is very nice.Smart ain't so great...It's only about 10 times faster than yum (maybe more)....handles dependencies better...Kewl little button that updates your entire system with one click...need I go on? :p

Edit > Channels > New > Provide channel information

RPM Metadata.

Alias = freshrpms
Name = Fedora Core 6 - i386 - Freshrpms
baseurl = http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/6/i386/freshrpms

I think that should get it. Haven't tried to set it up because I don't use freshrpms.
