Dear all,
I am new to Fedora Core Linux. I have a couple of questions:
1. When I boot the system I get a message
ata.02:failed to set xfermode (err_mark=0x4)

It happens four times and that takes about 7-8 minutes and during this time nothing happens. Then booting resumes and FC loades.
2. How do I set the monitor refresh rate eg. 75Hz or 85Hz.? The image on screen is just too big, does not fit into the screen. I am using winxp too and I do not want to adjust the monitor settings manually evertime I run a different OS.

3. I cannot mount the NTFS partition and DVD drive.

Please help
regards

Shonit

1. since your hardware is unknown, i suspect the error is the reason why in (3) your DVD doesnt mount;
check for any errors in /var/log/messages
2. Goto System -> Administration -> Display -> [enter root password] -> tab Hardware
then choose a monitor that is close to what you have.
/etc/X11/xorg.conf will have the settings for whatever monitor chosen.
3. install package ntfs-3g from extras. be aware that this will give you write access to the NTFS drive which has a small risk of corrupting it.
