View Full Version : Gnome crash

Hi all, I am newish to Linux (have dabbled a bit with DSL and Knopix) and I need some help. I was trying to get my speedtouch 330 modem to work with fc6 and followed these instructions:

Anyways - my firmware version is revision 4 and I did all that it says I should do. After it finished I noticed I couldn't open the programmes tab to open a text editor. I closed all open windows and saw a message saying gnome-panel had crashed and that I should install Bug Buddy.

I didn't know how to shut down. What is the Linux version of ctrl-alt-delete? So I had to press reset. I started up Windows XP to get Bug Buddy and when I went back to FC6 it said I needed an internet connection for Bug Buddy to work...

How do I change from Gnome to KDE? Will this help? How do I fix Gnome?

I don't know about your gnome problem, but you could use <ctrl><alt><backspace> to restart the X server.

Also, to switch to KDE you can just select it on the login screen. There's a way to make it permanent but I don't know if off hand, though I did just skim through a post here that did know how this morning. Ah it's in here somewhere http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=135568
