well at first i had problems logging in as the root, figured out there was a kdmrc file to change that.
now though i login as the root im unable to start any of the tasks under system ---> administration (not even one) though they all work fine under the console.

Even yum doesnt run in gui mode, not a huge prob though, but the others are pretty bad.

and how do i get vlc player installed, yum is not resolving some dependencies....
anyway to work that out.

What problems did you have logging in as root? You mean with the login screen or in a terminal? You shouldn't run X as root, if that's what you're trying to do.

ya im talkin about the xlogin, got around that,i know the permissions on the process and all that.... forget that for now.

none of my system---->administration tasks open in gui mode, now i want to figure out why.

i did yum update kernel and also installed vlc,was it bcos of that?
