Extracted my tarball here and this is what I get:

[root@M30 sunbird]# ./sunbird
./sunbird-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[root@M30 sunbird]#

I have "libstdc++ - 4.1.1-30.i386" installed

Any one know how to get this working?

Dunno!

I installed .2?? in my user directory, located the shell script in the folder, made a link for the desktop, clicked the link, and Sunbird came right up.

BTW, I don't use the root account for that kind of stuff. Far too dangerous!

Thanks for your reply Dan.

The package I needed was
compat-libstdc++-33 - 3.2.3-61.i386

Boots straight up now. :)

The icon provided in the tar file is out of proportion to other gnome panel icons.

I modified the icon to match the size of my Firefox and Thunderbird icons in my gnome panel.

Just thought I would share. Somebody might find it useful.
