I just installed x86_64 FC6 on a Dell Optiplex GX620 with Intel Pentium D. It runs fine, boots up fine and I am able to startx into gnome. But the moment I logout, it hangs up and I have to turn of the power supply to hard reboot it.

Even if i try a "shutdown -h now" after going into a terminal, the same thing happens. As soon as the x server is shutdown, it hangs.

Any tips highly appreciated. Thanks.

Same problem here too.. Do you have a nvidia graphics card by any chance? If so, are you using the beta drivers?
I figured these drivers might be causing the problem.

I also have the same problem.

I just did the installation according to Anaconda.

The machine I installed it on is a Toshiba laptop. I'm not sure what kind of
video hardware the machine has. Can anybody suggest ways to fix this?

Thanks.

A little more information would be great. Probably your Xorg.0.log from /var/log.

Hangs on me as well. Not every time though. About 50%. Strange.
Intel C2D 6300 (2.2GHz)
Via Mobo
1GB DDR
Nvidia 6800GS
Maxtor 250GB HD (SATA)
Windows partition on sda1

Will post log when I get home from work.

Same problem,

With the nvidia original driver (nv) works fine...with the nvidia "livna" driver
loaded and a "logout" (from kde or gnome desktop) fedora dies and a hard
reset is needed ...

2 days ago I replace my AMD 3000+ Skc.754 (mobo and proc.) with a new
Intel 775 E6300 and Asrock mobo ... and still the same.

Anyone knows something new ?

Environment : FC6 64 / Nvidia driver 1.0.9629 / FC updated
E6300 / Nvidia 6600GT AGP / SATA Samsung 120gb

I PMed this to amballester, but the thing that fixed it for me was changing my /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

I changed the driver from i890 (or something like that) to vesa and then everything worked.

...This Asrock mobo supports PCI-E cards too and yesterday I replace the AGP
with a PCI-E Leadtek 7300GS.

Using the same xorg.conf but replacing the "BusID" option to match with the
new card, works fine (the X seems to be stable), but only in "clone" mode, not
in twinview or xinerama...amazing!!!???

Regards.
