View Full Version : GDM not starting on boot.

Ok so I have my FC6 install working pretty well now. I've got my ATi drivers installed and working XGL is disabled and Cedega is working well for World of Warcraft, but I do have a problem.

When my system starts it will automatically boot to CLI and prompt me to login.

Login as root and the run GDM starts gnome where i can login as myself and all works ok. If I login as myself and type STARTX then my ATi 3D acceleration is lost.

Also if I boot and press E during GRUB and add a "5" to the end of the boot line it boots completely normally straight into Gnome and asks me to login. However this setting is not kept and a reboot will give me the CLi again.

I've tried editing my grub.conf file to add the "5" permanently to the line but it seems to see it as two seperate commands then.

For information here is my grub.conf file.

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You do not have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /, eg.
# root (hd1,1)
# kernel /boot/vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/sdb2
# initrd /boot/initrd-version.img
title Fedora Core (2.6.18-1.2798.fc6)
root (hd1,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.img
title Vista
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1

Please can someone help. mine problem that this is it is annoying and I would like to resove it.
