hi

it seems i don't have a system tray icon for Gaim on GNOME, but have it on KDE
is anyone else experience this problem???

according to Planet GAIM there should be an option for this on Preferences, but it's not

Yes, mine works on GNOME and XFCE with no problems, for the past 6 or so months. The system tray icon is always there. What I've never tried it in is KDE. Perhaps running it in KDE then in GNOME causes the problem? Hard to imagine why. Hope someone can help you with your problem. I have no clue what to tell you, as it just works for me.

in fc5 two things were needed for tray icon:

1. gaim plugin ( I no more see it in fc6/new gnome, probably integrated);
2. notification area on panel.

make sure you have notification are inserted in panel. right click on panel and Add to Panel notification area, try minimizing gaim after that

Do you have a upper or lower panel on your desktop??? The icon will show up when you have a notification area, it looks like a little vertical line on your panel. If you don't have one, right or left click the panel and select add, scroll through the list until you see the "notification area" and add it....
