I had a post in July where I fexed this issue:

users cannot autmount CDs

by making this change

cd /etc/dbus-1/system.d
gedit hal.conf
change deny to allow as follows
<!-- Default policy for the exported interfaces -->
<policy context="default">
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.SystemPowerManagement"/>
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.LaptopPanel"/>
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume"/>
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.Crypto"/>
</policy>

This has now stopped working - ordinary users can nolonger mount drives.

As root you can mount a CD but it won't automatically put a tool on the desktop when the the CD is inserted in the drive - it seems automount isn't fully working.

Does anyone know what broke it (was it a yum update) and how to fix it ?

Thanks
