is there anywhere on the web to get a list of:
a) the rpms in a version of Fedora Core
b) the rpms in the extras repositories per version.

You can get a list of packages that are installled and that can be installed with your current repos by issuing command: yum list. To retain the list in a file you can do the following:

script yum.out
yum list

and hit Ctrl + D when command yum list ends. You will have a file called yum.out which will contain the output of 'yum list'.

There might be a list as you mentioned but i am not aware of one, but i'm not an expert so keep looking.

I don't have it installed yet, and even if I do, I won't use yum because I have dial-up.

You're going to have to hit the web to get a full listing like you want. To do this in a graphical environment, try this:

Get your internet connection up, then select Add/Remove Programs. When the dialog comes up, and after the lists populate, select the "List" icon. It will take a minute for it to re-populate. Then you can browse the available packages at your liesure. If you are on FC5, that is the repos that will be displayed. If on FC6, the FC6 repos come up. It's automatically chosen.

If you would rather scan the FTP sites for packages, you'll want to wait a bit for the rest of the Fedora sites to get back to normal after the FC6 download rush tapers off. Then you can surf into the repos themselves and prowl around.

Thanks TangledWeb but I actually meant something like like this:

I am in the process of ordering myself the FC6 DVD from a local CD distributer. I would also like to get all the extras rpms on another DVD. I would like to see all the rpms available, in order to find out if all the stuff I would need will be there.

Thanks, then. I have another question:
For people like me with a dial-up connection, does anyone know if there is anywhere where you can order/buy a DVD with all the extras on ?

By preference, I use The Linux Store out of Canada.
