hi, i'm trying to load the ntfs module to see my windows partition. when i run rpm i get...

[root@localhost rj]# rpm -Uvh kernel-module-ntfs-2.6.18-1.2200.fc5-2.1.27-0.rr.10.5.i686.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]

FATAL: Could not rename /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2200.fc5/modules.dep.temp into /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2200.fc5/modules.dep: Permission denied
[root@localhost rj]#

i tried moving the file /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2200.fc5/modules.dep.temp into /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2200.fc5/modules.dep myself, but it still doesn't work.

when i run rpm -qa | grep -i ntfs, it says the module is loaded.

any ideas?

thanks

rik.

It the module is installed, is it loaded:
/sbin/lsmod | grep ntfs
If it is loaded, did you try mounting an NTFS partition?

If it is not loading, try removing the RPM and re-installing it. (rpm -e)

Another alternative is try installing the livna ntfs rpm.

I'd try with Livna's modules - I've tested them to work...
BTW, just curious - Do you listen to rap / rick ross? lol
