When I enable desktop effects, scrolling in firefox slows down considerably. I changed my color depth from 24 to 16, which helped enormously....however...has anyone figured out how to get scrolling to be smooth at 24 depth?? I have a feeling it has something to do with the "radeon" driver....and from what I've read, it looks like "fglrx" has the same issue. Im running a dell 600m with a 64mb radeon 9000. Every other aspect of desktop effects work well.

16bit is ok for me. 24bit delays a bit.

Interesting, if there is some sort of tweak..

Could depend on your cpu also. I'm running a P4 3.06Ghz mobility.

What are you running havenoclu?

This is an admitted issue with AIGLX in the way that it displays information. I'll see if I can dig up where I read it.

***EDIT*** Here is a link to the answer (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2006-September/msg00390.html)

Jim: Firefox, Thunderbird, and gnome-terminal are all affected (at 16-bit none the less). Nautilus is smooth. Amarok is also smooth.

ZeusZon: I'm running a PentiumM 735 w/ 1GB mem.

Janl: Thanks for the link. Looks like there may be hope down the road.
