I cant seem to change the filer permissions how i need them for the config.php file on phpbb or any other file since i have no idea how to change that, i tried accessing it through chmod in ftp but thats not an option when i open it up in chmod and when i view properties there is also no way to change it. I am very new to all this which is why im having so much difficulty, it really isnt any sort oftechnical issue just more me being a newbie.

If you can get to a console, you can change file permissions with the chmod command. For what you want to do, you would probably do 'cd' (maybe 'cd /var/www/html' ?) to get to the directory that has the files you want to change permissions on, then 'chmod 666 config.php'.
