View Full Version : No access to optical drive via x, xdmcp...

I can log into a machine running fc5 using either of the following methods:
1. ssh -X xx.xx.xx.xx
2. Xnest -query xx.xx.xx.xx
3. gdmflexiserver and then xdmcp and choosing the other machine...


Everything works perfect, except Xnest is way slower than the others ( really don't know why )
My problem is, I hav no access to my dvd burner (the only optical drive) , neither mount a volume nor burn with k3b. The drives is not existent.

Can anyone help me on one of my problems, especially the drive access problem?

of course: If I log in locally, everything works as expected...

Hello:
If you want to have access to an optical drive with a disc loaded, then log in using ssh and open a terminal cd /media
type dir and you should see the contents of the disc
This should give you access to the disc's contents.
Or if, you want to use the gui with ssh then just browse for the /media directory.
There is no fixed mount point present in FC5's fstab as there was with previous versions for removable media.
