I need the kernel headers for FC5. My kernel version is 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp.
I'm not quite sure what the name of the right .rpm package is, so can anyone send me in the right direction?

"yum install kernel-devel" should get things installed for you.
To double check what version you're running, use "uname -r"

if you prefer rpm to install:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/5/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/kernel-smp-devel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5.i686.rpm

Thanks for your post.

I've downloaded the rpm package, but it will not install:

[dingo@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost dingo]# uname -r
2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp
[root@localhost dingo]# yum install kernel-devel
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install Process
Setting up repositories
core [1/3]
Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core
[root@localhost dingo]# yum install /home/dingo/kernel-smp-devel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5.i686.rpm
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install Process
Setting up repositories
core [1/3]
Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core
[root@localhost dingo]#

As you can see, I tried installing it in both ways both with the same result. As I'm all new to this, can anyone tell me what to do?

try this: "rpm -ivh /home/dingo/kernel-smp-devel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5.i686.rpm"

Now I get this message:

[dingo@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost dingo]# rpm -ivh /home/dingo/kernel-smp-devel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5.i686.rpm
warning: /home/dingo/kernel-smp-devel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5.i686.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 4f2a6fd2
error: Failed dependencies:
/usr/sbin/hardlink is needed by kernel-smp-devel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5.i686
[root@localhost dingo]#

Any idea?

Install the hardlink package before kernel-smp-devel.

Well, of course!

Thanks, now it worked perfectly!
