Right after installing wine using yum, if i do winecfg:

$ winecfg
wine: creating configuration directory '/home/anshul/.wine'...
fixme:ole:ITypeInfo_fnRelease destroy child objects

...and stops there. No GUI is started. It creates $HOME/.wine-xxxxx with xxxxx being a random string. The folder seems to have the required files but if I try to go and run wine notepad.exe it gives me an error saying Bad EXE format.

While winecfg is hung/stopped output of

$ ps ax | grep wine
22670 pts/1 S+ 0:00 /usr/lib/../bin/wine-pthread winecfg.exe
22673 pts/1 S+ 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/../bin/wineprefixcreate --quiet --wait --prefix /home/anshul/.wine-Na19HV
22690 pts/1 S+ 0:00 rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 128 wine.inf
22693 ? Ss 0:00 /usr/lib/../bin/wineserver
22700 pts/3 R+ 0:00 grep wine

wine version: 0.9.20
System: FC5
kernel: 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5

Any idea whats wrong?

Thanks

It got fixed. I left it running for an hour or two and the normal winecfg eventually appeared. Things appear to be running.
