[ my ultimate goal is to get WinTV-PVR-USB2 to work, and finally MythTV. if anyone has done this with FC5, please kindly write me a step-by-step, i would greatly appreciate that]

I've been inching my way through this How To (http://www.isely.net/pvrusb2/setup.html) although i'm making progress, it's not without losing some hair, so any help would be appreciated. the HowTo seems a bit too high level for me. i'm not really familiar with some of the process.

i'm now trying to build the driver for it

export KREL=`uname -r`
export KDIR=/lib/modules/$KREL/source
make --directory driver

that's part of the instructiosn... problem is, i don't think it exists. i went to the directory that will point to, and "source" seems to be broken (it says "broken link" when i look at properties). and i do get the "no such file or directory" error when i try to run make.

i seem to be missing this directory

/usr/src/kernels/2.6.17-1.2174_FC5-i686 (the directory "source" is pointing to)

EDIT:
i got it to compile, luckily....but i still haven't gotten it to work it seems

i think that you need to run as root: apt-get install kernel-devel-`uname -r`
