View Full Version : reading directory .: Invalid argument??

11th September 2006, 05:37 PM
When listing with wither ls or dir a samba share from an FC5 machine I receive this error? In Nautlis the directory just shows up blank! It only happens on really big folders, in my case the directory is over 3000 folders and 90K files.

The directory loads fine on a Windoze machine.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem, any ideas most welcome.
Here is a bit more info about my experience.

System details
Server is FC4 (up to date) - samba installed by rpm
Linux clients FC5 (up to date)

I see the invalid argument again while trying to read large directories, however I also see 'reading : Permission denied' when I attempt to access any file.
My setup had been working for quite a while, and recently I performed yum update on FC4 and FC5 machines, it seems one of these has broken my setup, but I am not sure which as I do not use the shares on a regular basis.
As with the last post Windoze clients work fine.

This bug just relates to the problem in the original post while reading a directory, I have had the permissions problem since 2.6.17-1.2187_FC5, I cannot be sure about before this.

The FC6 Final kernel, 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6, has the same problem.

I would report it to Bugzilla if I knew what to report it as!
