Hello,
I need this files from an FC5-PC:
/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/de
/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/latin
/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/level3

Can please anyone send me this files?
Upload it here or sent to michaelATschoenitzer.de

Thanks,
Michi

The files you want are part of the package
xorg-x11-xkbdata
Reinstall it and you're done - it's on FC cd/dvd.

I took the files out of the rpm, so that's ok, I thought....
BUT:
At the next reboot I became an errormessage:
somthing like (Cause it's in German, I have to translate):

Gnome-seting deamon could not be started.
System exception: IDL:Bonobo/GeneralError:1.0 : Childprozess made an error message

[Edit:] made I like Mat said.
[Edit2:] My FC is looking like Win 3.1 !!!!!

or extract the RPM to a temporary directory and get the files as well

mkdir ~/rpm
cp /path/to/xorg-x11-xkbdata-...rpm ~/rpm
cd ~rpm
rpm2cpio xorg-x11-xkbdata-...rpm | cpio -idv

For completeness, here's the English error message to your problem?

There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon
Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings
may not work correctly.
The Settings Daemon restarted too many times.
The last error message was:
System exception: IDL:Bonobo/GeneralError:1.0 : EOF from child process

Google tells me that you either could try to reinstall "libbonobo" or you pretty much messed up the system..

What exactly did you do that required you to replace the 3 files from your post in the first place?

Ok, that's what I have done:
I wanted to edit the keybord layout, so that I can write greek letters using 'AltGr', so I edited the files de and latin (havend edited level3, only wanted to be shure).
It seems, that I made somthing wrong there, so there was an error message after reboot, saying that xkb couldn't started, so I have replaced the changed files with the orginal files, as you said.
But after next reboot, this new error occured...

Updated "libbonobo", well see if it works... (I hope)

No, it wasn't, but I think, I already had this problem some time before, but I don't know what I have done...
