Hi.
I need to open port 995 and 587, but don't know how to do that.
My command nmap -p995 192.1.......
PORT STATE SERVICE
995/tcp closed pop3s

but I need this option STATE (open)
what exactly do I need to do?
thanks.

Run system-config-securitylevel-tui and add 995:tcp and 587:tcp in the list of "Other ports" in the customization screen.

Save
reboot

command nmap -p995 192.1....

PORT STATE SERVICE

Do you have a POP3S server actually running and listening to that port?

Actually don't know. I'm using Fedora only for half year and pretty new to this all.
How can I make pop3s service running?
thanks for help.

If you don't even know if you have the service running, why do you think you need to open those ports? What are you actually trying to do?

When you want to open these ports you need a program that have to listen. So, you need a program to listen on your ports.
Just start your program and it will take control on the ports.
