I'm new to Fedora Core 5.0 (Linux in General) and am wondering how I can go about installing realVNC.
I've downloaded it but am a bit confused as to how to go about installing it.

there is already a vnc (probably tight vnc) package, and its likely already installed.. do a

rpm -qa | grep vnc

in the terminal and see what comes up..

there is other alternatives to vnc, depends on what you are attempting to do with it?

Are you attempting to be a VNC Server (share the Linux desktop to the network) or are you trying to be the client (connect to a Windows host/Linux host)?

I am trying to connect to a Windows host.

A simple:

su -
yum install vnc
will install the VNC viewer onto your machine. From there you can use:

vncviewer host:display
from a terminal to connect, or there is also a GUI interface in 'Accessories'.
