View Full Version : "nothing to do" during videolan-client installation

when i was installing videolan-client,the output is just
"nothing to do"
so..what should i do?


[root@localhost ~]# yum -y install videolan-client
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install Process
Setting up repositories
core [1/3]
updates [2/3]
extras [3/3]
Reading repository metadata in from local files
Parsing package install arguments
No Match for argument: videolan-client
Nothing to do

I think you need to have some different repositories like Livna included in your repo list.
The three listed do not have VideoLanClient available as a download.
Go here.

Or freshrpms. For livna, it's vlc for freshrpms it's videolan-client

If you went to the Livna site and read this part:


To start using the rpm.livna.org repository with Yum, Smart, or APT-RPM (with repomd support), simply install the livna-release-5 rpm package:

Then copy and paste in a terminal:


rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-5.rpm

Then in a terminal:


yum install vlc

If you dont already have a graphical package installer use "yumex".


yum install yumex
or


yum install gnome-yum
