hi there,

i guess everyone knows about rapidshare.de and a time limit of an hour between downloading files. this is not a problem for premium account holders. unfortunately, im not one of them.

there is a way on windows of going through proxy server which gives you a temporary ip. then, download whatever and then reconnect to change ip and avoid time limit.

i wonder if there is such program on linux?

Open a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal).
Execute
wget http://www.example.com/example.mov

The first item on that line is the program name, wget. The parameter is the URL of the file you wish to retrieve.

If you want to resume after a failed download, add the -c parameter:

wget -c http://www.example.com/example.mov

I believe there is also a graphical version of wget available, but I don't recall what it is called.

NOT THAT I DONT APPRECIATE THE RESPONSE, but perhaps, i havent been clear on the task, which is

1.to download a file, having no direct link. (common to hostings like megaupload.com, up-file.com, rapidshare.de and infinite number of others). having link, i go on the website, wait for 20-200 seconds, get a 3-4 digit code, which has to be entered in a text box nearby. only then, i proceed to download a file.

2.then, when downloading is done, change ip adress. having a dsl connection i am assuming i have a dynamic ip. not static, i think. which is bad, because static is a lot easier to change. dynamic ip could be change only by working through OTHER COUNTRIES' PROXY SERVERS. on my windows machine i use program like Hide IP Platinum. IS THERE AN ALTERNATIVE FOR LINUX? i need something that changes my ip adress, because hosting recognizes it, stores somewhere and the next time i go in, i can download file only in an hour.

3.when ip adress is changed, i.e. hosting "sees me as a different person when i login again", download new file, not waiting another hour.

i guess its the same thing as browsing anonymously. for this purpose, what to use? im very interested in learning how to do that from the command line, but please, if reply, dont be short on explanations.
