View Full Version : Open Office 2.02 crashes under Gnome desktop

Recently my openoffice has been playing up. The problem is in the saving of files. I can open a file and amend and save - or "save as" - only once. If I try again using another file or the same then oOo crashes. Strangely this only happens under Gnome desktop, my preference, but when I boot into KDE and try the same its fine. I have googled but no result.
I can restart oOo and recover the files and then save only once again and the cycle continues.
Anybody any suggestions ?
Should I re-install the Gnome environment ?
I am using FC5.
Thanks for any help.

Hello,
the same problem has appeared in my system recently. OpenOffice started to crash about two days ago, the log messages seems very similar.
I don't know how to cure the situation. I suspect that it can be related to last db4 update, because, the db4 is the only thing that has changed in my system that time.

Regards,
Eryk

Since about two days ago my openoffice started to crash as well, and when I heard a colleague of mine complaining about the same, I stumbled on this thread..
I am using Gnome, he is using KDE.
I am unable to reproduce the issue like you describe, but I have had a couple of crashes now, while I haven't had ANY crash before !

I hope someone can enlighten us . . .?

count me in on this one. OO has NEVER crashed on me before except in these last few days...

It seems to be related to the db4 rpm package that crashes the OOo help... a yum update should fix it.. I have to try it out yet, though...

any luck with trying the db4 thing ?
