I've downloaded several KDE/Java apps, but they do not have the pieces neccesary for Gnome Menu Editor to see them. What do I need to do so that they are added to the Gnome "Applications" Menu. (I've used the menu editor program, but they do not even show up as available).

- install alacarte (gnome menu editor)
- open alacarte
- choose File -> New Entry

Follow the other post to install Alacarte.

For java apps you will need to make an entry something like:

java -jar /pathtojavaapp/application.jar

For example, I have JAlbum in /opt so the menu entry would be:

java -jar /opt/JAlbum/JAlbum.jar
