Hello,

I have a working FC4/XP dual boot system
The system is equipped with two drives (see grub.conf below)
I would like to get rid of XP, preserve FC4, switch to an FC4/FC5 setup.

Will this be a "straightforward" FC5 graphical installation?
Should I modify grub.conf before installation?
Is there any advice that I should get before starting?

thank you,

Skizzo

I did that before, to be on the safe side, make a copy of the grub.conf to save all the FC4 entries. The install has the tendency to assume, that they woul dnot be needed. The rest is easy, graphical install, try to boot and restore the FC4 entries if needed.

One tip, your current root partition has the label "/", once you install FC5 your the former XP partition will get another label like "/0", so if you edit grub.conf afterwards, make sure that grub does not get confused with these two partition.

When multi booting, it's best to use real device names rather than labels, i.e root=/dev/sda1 instead of root=LABEL=/ (run mount without arguments to see which device has the label "/" in on your FC4 system.
