Does anyone have any suggestions on what programs to install for a smooth running machine? I am a newbie with linux and I am familar with some of the programs, but to be honest I feel a little lost. I know I have choices, just dont know what programs would conflict with others-

This is what I would like to eventually do with my machine.
1. Possible mail server
2. Posisble web server
3. Word processing
4. Internet
5. FTP

Fedora 5 is running on the following type of machine. Athlon 800, 60gig hard drive, 512k memeory.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas it would be very much appreaciated. Thanks :)

Thanks Brunson, I am familar with all the others except for "lftp", I am assuming its a non graphical "FTP" program?

If I have installed other programs, other then those listed. Can I go back and modify and delete those programs without fragmenting the system to bad?

Yes you can, Linux doesn't suffer from drive (file) fragmentation the way Windows does.
