I have joined Fedora Forum, from India, a freelance writer, and author.

The interest in Linux grew because I wanted to assemble a simple robot (Light Following) for my granddaughter.

The project was interesting, but my main problem was programming, which is new to me and have not attempted so far.

Fedora Core has a lot of features and wanted to install to learn Linux, the most popular language growing every day.

This is the first time I am installing FC5.

First testing of the CDs was done and all CDs passed the test.

The BIOS setting of the system was changed to boot from CD-ROM drive.

System started with CD1in the drive.

Fedora Core Screen appeared, the installation ENTER was clicked.

After configuring the keyboard, the disk partition screen appeared.

UNFORTUNATELY, MY MOUSE DID NOT WORK.

Without the mouse it is not possible to carry on the installation and had to abort.

THE MOUSE IS WORKING FINE WITH WINDOWS XP.

What could be the reason and how should I proceed further to solve this problem.

Could anyone guide me?

Waiting for your reply

It helps a lot if, when you post, you give a few details. What cpu, using 32bit or 64bit, motherboard and bios version, make and model of problem hardware (in this case the mouse), how the hardware is attached (usb/ ps2/ other) etc.

Lazlow,

The details are: CPU Cyrix III, 550 MHz, 32 bit, BIOS Award PnP, Logitech Serial Mouse.

The problem is that Fedora Core 5 does not suppoprt serial moluse.

I checked up the Release Notes. this version of Fedora does not support serial mouse.

Can I use Fedora Core 4 and does it support serial mouse?

Hello:
If you refer to the release notes of FC4 it would appear that serial mice although not without certain problems do work.

Steve,

Thanks for the reply.

I will try an USB Mouse and if it works I can continue with FC5.
