I am running FC4 w/ kernel 2.6.16-1.2115_FC4SMP
Since about a week my X sessions have started crashing and/or restarting spontaneously.
The most relevant messages in Xorg.0.log seem to be a couple of AUDIT messages:

AUDIT: Sat Jul 22 20:54:16 2006: 4893 X: client 1 rejected from local host
Auth name: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 ID: -1
AUDIT: Sat Jul 22 20:54:16 2006: 4893 X: client 3 rejected from local host
Auth name: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 ID: -1

I read some stuff on .Xauthority being the culprit, on some installations it seems not to be recreated at X (re)start, but that is not the case on my setup AFAIK.
Although the system becomes totally unresponsive of keyb/mouse I can always ssh to it from my other box and reboot. top and ps aux do not show much out of the ordinary.

Any help with this highly annoying issue would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Sured.

I think I have found the culprit after all. I replaced the Mesa driver with ATI's proprietary one (I have the 9800 series videocard) and X hasn't crashed on me since.
