hello,

i've installed the Alacrate Menu Editor to edit the menus on my gnome.
The reason i've installed it cause i want to add "xmms" icon to menu.
(when i've installed xmms it didn't add me item - not that i can see anyway).

anyway the problem starts when inside the editor i have some "ghost" item that has no icon, (for some reason not shown on menu) & i cannot get into it's "properties" of it (nothign happens when i click it) & i cannot delete it (delete is disabled) :confused:

i've searched the forum and found someone saying to look under:
/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu
but there all that i could find similar to "Sound & video" (the menu i want to edit is:

<!-- Multimedia -->
<Menu>
<Name>Multimedia</Name>
<Directory>Multimedia.directory</Directory>
<Include>
<And>
<Category>AudioVideo</Category>
<Not><Category>Settings</Category></Not>
</And>
</Include>
</Menu> <!-- End Multimedia -->

where in fast it should have 2 items there: k3b & xine.
can anyone plz tell me where can i find the files holding config for that ?

The problem here is that you are editing the wrong file. To change the menu items you need to go edit the .desktop files located in:

/usr/share/applications

You should have an entry for xmms in here (possibly xmms.desktop). Once you find the correct file open it up using your preferred editor. From here you can define the icon you want to use with:

Icon=filename

If you don't have the xmms icon on your system then you get one by doing a google image search. I would suggest putting it into:

/usr/share/pixmaps

Hope this helps.
