My three year old motheboard says (in the manual) that Win XP can use 2 sata drives and both ide channels, but other operating systems can only use 1 ide channel with any sata device. Does any one know why this is? Is this a motherboard hardware limitation or an operating system limitation and is there away around it?

Motherboard - Soyo SY-P4I865PE (Intel 865PE chipset)

Thanks

Hello:
Probably, you should check and see if there is a newer BIOS as I would think it is a BIOS limitation.
If you want to try another OS? I am sure that is the only way, you will find out whether or not it will do want you want to.
