View Full Version : user problems

I do not know what to do. Everything was working fine then the system crashed. Now when I log on as a regular user it only loads up 2 tool bars and a blue screen. The root user works fine though. I wouldn't mind at all except that I don't feel comfortable running certain applications under root user. I even tried to make a new user and it does the same thing. Ugg.

sounds like your .gnome / .gconf settings were corrupted. as root login to your home directory and rename these hidden directories -> .gnome , .gnome2, .gconf : to something like .gnomeBAK etc etc. then log in as you on your regular account and let gnome rebuild these directories. you'll lose your personal prefences...but you can dig into your BAKup directories and copy over any XML or other settings you want.
