I know I'm a noob, but...

Anything I install that uses OpenGL for graphics will not run. It will open the widow and try to run it, but then just close the window like nothing happened. I'm running FC5 x64, if that helps.

I think it would be important to mention a bit more, like what graphics card you are using and what driver for that card.

I'm using a GeForce 6600, the default drivers that Fedora loads, the GNOME desktop, and a Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939 motherboard. 512 MB PC3200 RAM. Anything else?

Hello:
If you start your application from a terminal does it provide any information or error messages?
You may also want to install the nVidia drivers for your card. You can follow the instructions here to set up the livna repo: http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_5_installation_notes.html#nVidia
Just keep in mind the instruction page is for 32 bit FC, but it will work for your drivers.
Then all you have to do is run yum -y --enablerepo livna install kmod-nvidia
You can browse the repo here if you like? http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/5/x86_64/
