I just installed Fedora Core 5 on my IBM R50e laptop and I can only choose between 800 by 600 and 640 by 480. Its a 14.1" lcd monitor on the laptop so I think the native resolution is at 1024 by 768. It also cant recognise the monitor type and it wont even let me configure it. Is there some way I can change the resolution? everything is huge.
Im reasonably new to linux so perhaps its just something simple.
Thanks

Edit "Screen" section in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. All you have to do is to add 1024x768 resolution to available modes. Screen section will look like this:

Section "Screen"
...
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 16
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
EndSection
