I am trying to install StarOffice 8 (from CD) on FC5 and keep getting 'permission' error messages.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike55

I don't use that office setup, but if you cannot install it to your home space, you likely need to have sudo permissions, switch users (su -) via terminal, or be logged in as root to install. Probably because it needs to interact with other programs. UNLESS you have SELINUX going, and that May interfere with the installation/setup/use of this office product. However, I am not any good at all with selinux. Can't help you if that is the problem.

1) You can't execute any file on a CD, copy the contents of the cd to hard disk
2) chmod +x any executables
3) Run it

otherwise, mount the cd as executable
man mount for that

Thanks for the input. This did allow me to execute the file, however I encountered another problem and hope someone can be of assistance.
When I execute the file I get the following output:

"Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:

I have installed java with yum.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
