Hi, I accidently managed to reformat my ipod with the ext3 filesystem and rewrote the partition table and now neither windows or FC5 seems to recognise the device when i plug it in i.e fdisk does not list the device. What kinda mess have I got myself in and how is it possible to fix it? The ipod just displays the apple logo, and i can still access the service menu on the ipod itself!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance
Sameer

Hi there,

I'm sure you can reset this to factory standard but i've only used the tool for doing so through Windows. Sorry I couldn't be much more help than this.

The problem is that the ipod updater doesnt recognise the fact that there is an ipod connected to the computer

I managed to fix it by going into the ipod service menu and selecting disk mode, which allowed the ipod to be recognised by the pc thus enabling me to restore the ipod!
