Hello?

At one time, I experienced my apartment's
fire alarm going off as soon as I turned on my
computer.

Could have been just a coincidence, but thinking
back about that incidence still gives me some
weird feeling.

Eventaully, I ended up moving, but is there a way
for me to start investigating what might have caused it?

Thanks.

Some fire alarms are affected by electrical surges. This is probably what was happening.

I think it was probably a coincidence, but now that you've moved I can't see how you could investigate it further.

Hi steve1961,

Let's say that the same thing happens again.

Where can I start troubleshooting?

Hi steve1961,

Well I'm no electrican, but if power surges could cause the problem I'd probably suspect the psu and replace it with something decent. I'd also make sure that my box was plugged into a decent surge suppressor.
