I'd wish that was in XGL, but it aint. I'm not too sure about AIGLX.

there must be a linux alternative.. i`ve just came accross something called RandR (The X Resize and Rotate Extension) but i didn found any screenshots of it or download links... so still searching for a flip-3d alternative for linux :) in windows xp there is a alternative called TopDesk.... but again not for linux.

Project Plasma

Thats the closest thing I could find. they claim that it will be KDE's answer to Longhorn (a.k.a. Vista) but they are still in the coding stages and haven't even begun the work on the GUI part. So it look like flip-3d is a farcry away from linux at this point, but not forgotten. Maby the peeps making XGL or AIGLX will get similar insparation when Vista is released. As of now the best thing for sleek, 3D, Vista-style (most will argue Linux style :p) desktop is going widget crazy or using XGL.

I currently have XGL and it is terrific! Maby more apps will start going openGL. I would love a 3d MPlayer :D

Google also turn me up dry. Well if you find this mystery app by all means SHARE!!! I would Love to try that out.

BTW: When you saw it, did you see a video of a LIVE presentation? Like the guy was on stage showing it off. Cause I saw that video. I can't remember where. But it ws exactly like flip-3d.

YEARS!?!

If you could find sed video, that would be undenyable evidence that Vista is a copy-cat.

Nothing new. Sun's Project Looking Glass and this Metisse demonstration (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22448&highlight=metisse) already support these features.
Metisse will soon be available on Fedora Extras repository.

It should not problem. Only minor details are to assign the keyboard command for each tasks in order to be intuitive.

I'd wish that was in XGL, but it aint. I'm not too sure about AIGLX.

XGL and AIGLX got nothing to do with Flip-3d support. It's the composite manager like compiz that has all the effects and since compiz has a nice plugin system, it should be no problem writing a flip-3d plugin for compiz. Altough it shouldn't be necesary considering compiz's two alt-tab alternatives...
