View Full Version : Apache/Tomcat can't find jsp files

25th May 2006, 01:52 AM

I'm running Fedora Core 3 (apache 2.0-52.3 and Tomcat 5.5.17 and jk_mod
connector 1.2.15). I have tomcat installed in /opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.17.
I have a webapp installed at

In that folder I have a lot of html and jsp file (including index.html file).

I have Tomcat and Apache integrated via jk_mod (at least I think so) using
guides found on this forum, so I can enter from a remote machine:

and it shows the "index.html" from the SPECTOOLS app folder above. However,
in index.html I call a jsp file that is in the SPECTOOLS folder as well. But, when I
click on that link in index.html, Apache says that /SPECTOOLS/solar.jsp cannot be
found -- but I know it is there.

That is:

http://spectro.myschool.edu/index.html -- works ok
http://spectro.myschool.edu/solar.jsp -- file not found, but it is there.

It all works fine when I use http://localhost as my starting point on the server
itself. But when I try remotely, it's as if it can find html files in the tomcat webapp
folder, but not the .jsp files that are there.

Tomcat is running as root right now, so I don't think it is a port 80 issue since
root can use port 80 and the html files are serving up OK. Do I need any sort of
line in the hosts.allow to access tomcat?

Any other ideas?
