I can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere. Can anyone tell me why there is no kernel-smp for x86_64 Fedora Core 5?
Thanks!

I don't run x86_64 but I'm sure I read somewhere that the standard x86_64 kernel supports smp.

the repositories for x86_64 do not have an smp kernel. I looked through the spec file for the latest kernel source rpm and I found the following:

%ifarch x86_64
Obsoletes: kernel-smp
%endif

Why would the smp kernel be obsolete for x86_64?

If the standard x86_64 supports smp you wouldn't need a separate one.
