Hi folks,

FC5_64

Tried to download Knoppix5DVD on Firefox and it complained;

"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (ed2k) isn't associated with any program"

How to fix it? What is ed2k protocol?

TIA

Ed2k is eDonkey-link to use eDonkey-compatible P2P programs (e.g. Amule) to download a specific file (from other eDonkey clients).
You can use copy-paste
or
check this out:
http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Ed2k_links_handling#Mozilla_1.7_(or_later)_&_Firefox_0.9_(or_later)

Hi tsorvoja,

FC5_86

aMules is not installed on this OS

# which ed2k

/usr/bin/which: no ed2k in (/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/root/bin)

Neither can I find this package with yum

# yum search amule/amules/aMules/ed2k

amule is in the freshrpms repo

BTW, on the knoppix site I cannot find any "5" version... Is it already out?

Hi LocutosOfBorg,

Tks for your advice.

amule is in the freshrpms repo
$ ls /etc/yum.repos.d/

fedora-core.repo fedora-extras.repo fedora-updates-testing.repo
fedora-development.repo fedora-legacy.repo macromedia.repo
fedora-extras-development.repo fedora-updates.repo

Is following repo correct? the file to be named "fedora-freshrpms.repo"? I'm running FC5_64 and 64bit Firefox

[freshrpms]
name=FreshRPMs for Fedora Core $releasever - $basearch
baseurl=http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/$releasever/$basearch/freshrpms
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=http://freshrpms.net/RPM-GPG-KEY-freshrpms

BTW, on the knoppix site I cannot find any "5" version... Is it already out?It is there;

http://content.emule-project.net/view.php?pid=960

Only DVD available.

I'm now downloading it with BT. However the up/download speed is not stable ranging from;
50K ~ 170K/sec. The PC is connected to 1.5M broadband.
