I've been using Ubuntu for a while and I thought this might be the same since its still gnome and kde. however, I cant seem to find the splash screen manager to install new splash screens and gdm themes in gnome. the icons and window borders are the same.

as far as kde is concerned, I am lost on that one, what is the best way to install icons, themes and splash screens. I did the ALT+F2 and typed kcontrol, tried to install the themes and stuff like that but it is not recognized.

thanks

system/administration/login screen is where you install gdm themes. I personally wouldn't bother with changing the splash screen.
